                   1.  produce  technically  competent  and  scientifically  oriented  graduates  who  are
                      imbued  with  strong  entrepreneurial  spirit;  possesses  strong  social
                      consciousness; and guided by positive values and high ethical standards;
                   2.  conduct  relevant  research  and  development  activities  along  fisheries,
                      education,  business,  information  technology,  arts  and  sciences  that
                      would contribute to sustainable development in its service areas;
                   3.  implement effective training and outreach programs that emphasize self-help,
                      critical thinking and life-long learning;
                   4.  manage fishery and other enterprise projects to promote economically viable
                      and  environment-friendly  approaches  and  techniques;  and  establish  strong
                      linkage  with  non-governmental  organizations,  other  government  entities  and
                      the basic sector for the realization of common goals


               Department Objectives

                   The  Teacher  Education  Department  intends  to  accomplish  the  following
               objectives:
               1.  provide  relevant  and  quality  course  offering  in  the  undergraduate  levels  to
                   improve student performance;
               2.  conduct  relevant  researches  in  the  different  areas  in  education  to  enrich
                   the learning process;
               3.  conduct  relevant  community  services  to  disseminate  information  and
                   technologies to target clienteles to improve their well-being; and
               produce instructional materials to improve student performance

               Program Educational Objectives

                       The Bachelor of Secondary Education intends to produce graduates who are
               globally competitive and morally upright educators who:
               1. possess basic higher skills in literacy, communication, numeracy, analytical and
               critical thinking and learning that are needed in teaching secondary school students;
               2. have principled and practical understanding of the learning process;
               3. have excellent, meaningful and comprehensive knowledge of their fields of
               specialization, and the subjects they will teach;
               4. can skillfully apply the theories and principles of teaching and learning in actual
               classroom setting;
               5. possess appreciation of roles of the teacher in facilitating the learning process;
               6. are able to further the discovery and improvement of knowledge through
               research;
               7. are responsive to the needs of the society through involvement in various
               community activities;
               8. possess the skills and values, attitudes required of an effective teacher and citizen
               of the country;
               9. can facilitate learning of diverse learners in varied environments;
               10. are able to pursue continuous professional improvement to better fulfill their
               mission as teachers; and
               11. can demonstrate the professional, social and ethical requirements of the
               teaching profession.
