AREA B. EXTENSION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The Extension Unit of CvSU Naic sets its activities with inputs from faculty, staff,

students, LGU, NGOs/NGAs, alumni and other stakeholders. It involves the

application of the existing and new knowledge and technology to improve the quality

of life of the people in the community. A community model development inspires the

campus to conceptualize different extension activities to empower less privilege and

disadvantaged individuals, thus different extension project was launched.

It was observed that a quite number of young residents of Naic, Cavite do not

attend schools so that the frequency of out of school youth increased in number

because of poverty. Most of them are the children of fisherfolks that belong to the

poorest sector in the Philippines. Their family income is not enough for the daily

expenses, and to sustain their fishing activities which require gasoline and other

               expenses.

Such observation challenged the campus to propose an extension projects to

help improve quality of life of the less privilege men and women of the community.

               WELL-DEFINED OBJECTIVES

The Extension Services performs the third major function of Cavite State

University. It links this educational institution with the community through the conduct

of non-formal education and trainings, technology demonstration and technology

transfers to rural men and women, farmers, pupils, out of school youth and other

               community development activities.
