Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSF), a banner program of the campus,
encompasses fisheries concerns. To study fisheries, it embraces the country’s needs
for sustainable fisheries, responsible fisheries and environmental management, and
multi-sectoral approach to coastal management. It also recognizes the important
role of the community in all aspects of fisheries such as aquaculture, capture
fisheries, and post-harvest fisheries, hence; engaging the majority in coastal areas to
entrepreneurial, preservation and conservation activities in fisheries and to fully
comprehend and address their impacts.
In 2016, with the aim of the fast and furious university president on his
strategic plan for the university to become a globally recognized research university,
the BSF students and faculty are constantly engaged into research activities to
address the fisheries concerns in Cavite State University Naic, the province of Cavite
and the Philippines. This is done not only to comply with academic and faculty
requirements but in recognition to address the fisheries issues and concerns
particularly on coastal areas of Cavite as well as its coastal areas and fisheries
management. In addition, the conduct of relevant researches and development
activities in the field of fisheries and allied sciences will promote the development
and transfer of appropriate fishery technology and ensuring the researchers to
practice the principles of good governance and professional ethical standards in the
work place.
