B. EXTENSION
INTRODUCTION
The Campus Extension Unit of CvSU Naic sets its extension activities with
inputs from faculty, staff, students, LGU, NGOs/NGAs, alumni and other
stakeholders. It involves the application of the existing and new knowledge and
technology to improve the quality of life of the people in the community. A
community model development inspires the campus to conceptualize different
extension activities to empower less privilege and disadvantaged individuals, thus
different extension project was launched.
It was observed that a quiet number of young residents of Naic, Cavite does
not attend schools so that the frequency of out of school youth increased in number
because of poverty. Most of them are the children of fisherfolks that belong to the
poorest sector in the Philippines. Their family income is not enough for the daily
expenses, and to sustain their fishing activities which require gasoline and other
expenses.
Such observation challenged the campus to propose an extension projects
to help improve quality of life of the less privilege men and women of the
community.
The year 2001 marks another milestone in the history of college when it was
officially integrated to the Cavite State University (CvSU) System through RA 8292;
by virtue of Board Resolution No. 2 dated February 6, 2001. The integration of the
college, present known as CvSU-Naic campus, marks a new beginning. It has a
broaden its perspective to include Research, extension and production in addition
to the lone instruction function the campus has been used to. Likewise, new
