students and the teachers. This comprises 30% of student’s grades. In the
campus, this evaluation is done in terms of:
a) Quizzes – relatively short test given periodically to measure
achievement in material recently taught or on any small, newly
completed unit of work. An example is a 5 to 10 minute test, or a ten-
item test.
b) Preliminary exam – a test that prepares students for subsequent
examinations of greater difficulty and importance. This is given at the
first quarter of the semester.
c) Pre-final exam – a test in between the Mid-term exam and final
examination usually during the third quarter of the semester in order to
obtain immediate feedback regarding students’ achievement and do
some remedial measures to help them.
2. Summative evaluation – This is a kind of evaluation conducted in the campus
twice a semester. The purpose of summative evaluation is the grading of
students at the end of a broad unit of work usually after each half-term of the
semester. There are two types of summative evaluation done in the campus:
a) Mid-term exam – an examination given at the middle of a semester to
measure students learning outcome, making up 20% of the student’s
grade.
b) Final exam – an examination given at the end of a course of study which
is equivalent to another 20% of the final grade.
3. Performance Evaluation – test employed by the teachers to measure student’s
proficiency level in a skill. It requires manual or other motor responses and is
being used in laboratory subjects and practicum.
