Preparation and Use of Approved Syllabi
The University adopted a common syllabus format which consists of the
following information, university mission, vision, course code, course title, credit
units, credit hours, objective, core values, content, references, teaching methods
and learning activities, instructional materials, course requirements, grading
system and the course policies. The syllabus is reviewed by the department
chairperson and Approved by the Campus Administrator. The university system
is proposing to have a unified syllabus or the BSEd curriculum. The proposal is
ready for presentation to the University Academic Council for their comments,
suggestions and approval.
Delivery of Instruction
CvSU QMS’ quality procedure on the delivery of instruction (VPAA-QP-03)
sets the standard system on all activities involved in handling a class. As lifted
from the procedure itself, explained below is the specific steps for each activity:
Assignment of teaching load and room assignments
“The Department Chair in consultation with the faculty members of the
department assigns the teaching load of each faculty member based on
their field of expertise or specialization. The teacher shall then prepare
their teaching load and class schedule showing the courses that will be
handled, schedule of classes (both lecture and/or laboratory), and the
room and building assigned. The accomplished teaching and class
schedule must be submitted to the Department Chair and Campus
Administrator for approval. Upon approval, a copy of the teaching and
class schedule must be posted on the information board for the guidance
of the students.”
Preparation of the course syllabus
“The teacher prepares the course syllabi of the assigned courses
following the University prescribed course syllabus and submit them for
approval to the Department Chair and Campus Administrator. Upon
